Hey! You there! You with the spine that is still in one piece. Yeah you, with the eardrums still attached to your inner ear canal. Boy oh boy do we have something for you. What you may ask? Is it keeping both your eardrums and ear canal together in one piece? No of course not! That would be silly!
We have something that will blow out your eardrums until they are bleeding with automotive pleasure! What else could provide these magical sensations but a racecar, and that racecar is this 2008 Lotus Exige S240.
In this City, a lot of people seem to think that their car is a racecar. They may strip their interior, add a roll cage, remove their exhaust system, and install a set of completely bald tires thinking that this is pretty much what most professional racing teams do when assembling their competitive chariot of G-forces.
Well, this is not who you will be, because unlike those people who think their car is a racecar, this IS a racecar. Seriously, we’re not joking. Yet it’s street legal here, and that is all that matters.
What’s it like to drive? Well hold on to your jimmies there junior, there are procedures to follow before you lay the hammer down and slam through the gears. After you’ve clambered into the seat like some sort of angry French contortionist, strapped yourself in, turned the key, and pushed the Engine Start button, boy you better be ready.
You might think that there is a Cigarette Boat idling behind you, but in all actuality, that is an inline 4 cylinder slowly warming its fluids to life. It’s time to let that Japanese 4 cylinder yell the siren songs of, well, the British people.
This isn’t any inline old Toyota 4 cylinder either. This one has been breathed on by the Lotus wizards to produce 9% more HP over the outgoing Lotus Exige S. With displacement 1.8 liters, upgraded internals, 11.5:1 compression ratio, and a race redline of 8000 rpm, this is kumquat with a wing will sprint to 60 Mph in 4.0 seconds flat thanks to 240 HP and a scant 933 KG dry weight. Throw in aftermarket goodies like a 3.0″ Pulley, upgraded header, upgraded intake, upgraded exhaust, cup intercooler, BOE Fastworks tune, 5 Element Difflow diffuser, Carbon fibre front lip, Carbon rear wing, Carbon side skirts and Carbon side intakes, Penske non-adjustable coil-overs, OEM Lotus Elise 250 forged wheels, 550cc injectors, Radium fuel surge tank, supplemental cooling ducts, Chimera lightweight battery, and an S111 Oil catch cans and you are very likely pushing well above that posted stock output. You’ll be ready to drive yourself to the track of your choice, and demolish whatever is behind you along the way.
So call your chiropractor, pull on those racing gloves and get ready to sweat. This little Lotus is here to throw fists.
