What else could provide these magical sensations but a racecar, and that racecar is this 2006 Lotus Elise Type R. Type R? Yes, Type R. This Elise isn’t like the others. Its stock 1.8L has been swapped for a 9,000-rpm revving 2.0L K20 engine pulled from an Acura Integra Type R! Pushing the stock power from an original 180 to 233hp!
This isn’t like any “normal” Elise. So what’s it like to drive? Well hold on to your jimmies there junior, there are procedures to follow before you lay the hammer down and slam through the gears. After you’ve clambered into the seat like some sort of angry French contortionist, strapped yourself in, turned the key, and pushed the Engine Start button, boy you better be ready.
You might think that there is a large wasp idling behind you, but in all actuality, that is a 2.0L inline 4 cylinder slowly warming its fluids to life. It’s time to let that Japanese 4 cylinder yell the siren songs of, well, the British people.
This isn’t any inline old 4 cylinder either. This one has been breathed on by the mad wizards at Honda to 233hp at 9,000 RPM! With a displacement of 2.0 liters, upgraded internals, this is maniac with a wing will sprint to 60 Mph in under 4.0 seconds thanks to a scant 933 KG dry weight.
