LIVE THE EXPERIENCE:
Sadly, many modern vehicles seem to be named after photocopiers today. MP4-12C, G550, A3 MFP-S, RC-F. If you didn’t know any better you would think they were the latest offerings by Hewlett Packard for your office space. Perhaps you didn’t even notice that included in that list is name of HP’s newest model: MPF-S. When did luxury, exotic and performance car monikers suddenly become interchangeable with ho-hum appliances?
Defender. Doubtful this will ever be mistaken for a scanner, the very name projects an image of the strong, the brave and the unstoppable; very suiting for Land Rover’s most iconic model. A rare sight in North America as they were only offered for sale for several years in the early 1990’s.
This SUV projects so much “Cool Factor” that it practically oozes from its round headlights and boxy stance. If you own a Defender you know that you have something unique yet quirky. Something that looks like it’s on a safari sitting on the side of the freeway that won’t be stopped by loose rocks, steep terrain or deep water.
This example is particularly interesting. Originally from Italy where it was fully restored and customized by Regeneration at a cost of $125,000 back in 2016 and powered by a 147 hp Land Rover factory built 2.0L 16 valve 4 cylinder. You don’t see many Defenders, let alone customized ones like this that sport two-tone silver pearl and black paint. Inside you will find quilted interior and teak wood flooring that look like they were pulled from a yacht from the Riviera.
It’s ready to climb the steepest hill in your community in style. Come see for yourself why the Defender is, well, a Defender and not some soulless appliance.
