What a nice surprise! A great looking VW Beetle Cabriolet that has been recently restored just came in on trade. This is such a sweet looking Bug! Volkswagen updated the perennial Beetle in the early ’70s, and the Super Beetle was the result. This 1974 example looks great, and drives superbly!
The undeniable cuteness factor is what made these lovely cars a success, not to mention they are practical, economical, and sturdy. The convertibles were built for VW by custom coachbuilder Karmann, whose badges are proudly worn on the body just behind the front fenders, and quality was extremely high for such a reasonably-priced car. And all of it is in excellent condition.
The Stone Grey vinyl interior is classic Beetle, with firm, supportive buckets and trademark textured seating surfaces. Matching door panels continue the simple VW theme, adding map pockets in the doors that are actually quite useful. A single gauge on the Speedo is all the Beetle ever offered, combining the speedometer with a small fuel level gauge, and the markings are clear.
