On our last track day of 2017, we were joined by a phenomenal group of participants and instructors.
This event started late morning on Thursday, October 12th. With drivers joining us from across the Lower Mainland, some opted to join us in a convoy up to beautiful Osoyoos. We gathered together in late morning and began our journey. Despite some weather warnings along our route, we encountered nothing but clear skies and a great drive. Along the way, we stopped in Princeton and explored a small pumpkin patch.
We arrived at the Spirit Ridge Resort in Osoyoos with some time to relax before dinner. Some guests opted to visit the spa and those new to the resort toured the grounds.
Dinner was served, buffet-style, at 7pm in the resort’s restaurant. During dinner we were introduced to the team of instructors that would be guiding us the next day. After a full de-brief of the next day’s schedule, participants were split into groups according to experience level. This is done in order to ensure safety and the enjoyment of all those involved.
The next day started bright and early; by 8:00am we were all on the track and ready to go. Firstly, drivers got an in-depth tour of the daunting Area 27 track. They got to know it’s blind corners and tricky summits with accuracy. After multiple runs, it came time for a lunch break track-side. My Boneyard Grill, based in Kelowna, came out to serve a delicious BBQ meal for all famished drivers.
Next, the track day continued with drivers taking turns using the skills they had learned to make it around the track even faster and with confidence. Finally, our last track day came to a conclusion around 4:00pm. Some elected to continue their stay at the wondrous Spirit Ridge Resort for the weekend and others were ready to head back to a track-less reality.
To sum it all up, we would like to thank everyone that participated in our last Driver Education Track Day of the year, without your support we could not organize this unbelievable event. We found ourselves in fantastic company and observed many gain more confidence behind the wheel.
